Who is Andrea Nakayama
Before I share the controversies roaming around her company, let’s have an overview of Andrea Nakayama. Andrea is known as a functional medicine nutritionist, an educator, and a speaker pioneering the movement to transform healthcare into a system that works.
Let’s start with how she decided to make the company. Way backAndre’s husband Isamu was diagnosed with a fatal brain tumor during her 7 weeks of pregnancy with their first child.
Her husband was given only 6months to live but this won’t stop her from finding ways to cure him or slow down the process. She began her journey in researching nutrition given the grave situation it was their only option.
They started their food medicine path along with all the medical inventions and made Isamu live for two and a half years after his diagnosis giving him the chance to at least share some of their son’s beginnings in life.
Given the death of her husband, Andrea experienced post-traumatic growth and this experience gave her a new purpose in life. She finds opportunities within this tragedy and it becomes her coping mechanism where she wants to learn things that lead to chronic diseases.
She started the Functional Nutrition Alliance where she defied the traditional clinical approach and instead found ways to use the healing potentials of the human body in her ways. She markets her programs as a practice providing “personalized treatments”.
What is the Functional Nutrition Alliance
The Functional Nutrition Alliance is an institution that represents Andrea’s experience in clinical practice and as an educator in the field of functional medicine. They’re dedicated to provisioning nutrition programs, clinical guidance, and leadership through functional medicine.
They claim that they’ve unlocked the transformative power of the 80/20 rule in nutrition counselors. It was a practice where it specialized in diet and programs that weren’t recognized by the standard solutions.
They explain that their system benefits 80% of individuals but still, there’s a 20% of people who need a personalized approach in individual care.
The institution’s Functional Nutrition Lab is also dedicated to training practitioners who are committed to going beyond the one-size-fits-all solutions to delve deeper into uncovering the root causes of chronic illnesses.
The program will equip you with the skills and confidence to work with anyone so you can offer bio-individualized solutions to anyone who needs them. Joining in their ranks of Functional Nutrition Counselors gives you the purpose to make an impact in other people’s lives.
The Institution is dedicated to revolutionizing the healthcare system through personal care and individual solutions instead of a mainstream clinical approach.
What do they Offer?
Here are the list of things they will offer you for joining them:
Functional Nutrition Training Program
This program will teach you to experience functional nutrition through detox and cleansings. It will be shared by the professionals who trained and studied the science and art of using food as medicine.
Their primary goal is to empower patients to participate more in their health outcomes rather than leaning on conventional clinical means.
- Full Body System
The first training was FBS (Full Body System) where you get to be a Functional Nutrition Alliance certified and become a functional nutrition counselor. This includes a 10-month online nutrition program with 7 intensive training that includes the biological system of the body.
The training also covers the system and tools that you need for a successful functional nutrition practice along with live sessions and mentorships. You will also become a part of their community who want a change in the health system.
Lastly, this program was supposed to be accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) and the American Association of Natural Wellness Practitioners (AANWP).
- Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner
After you’re done with the FBS you will be able to qualify for their advanced practicum of Functional Nutrition and lifestyle practitioner program where you get the FNLP certification.
The program includes a 4-month online program of functional nutrition along with a deep dive into the functional nutrition tools, system and even counseling that has the best practices in developing functional nutrition alliances.
You also get to have direct mentorship on your clinical skills along with a dedicated community that will support you in your practices. This will also give you access to like-minded functional nutrition practitioners.
Additionally, you have access to monthly office hours with Andrea Nakayama together with the whole community plus the post certification along with it.
It’s a 3-week program covering a scope of estrogen dominance and hormone balance. This includes a masterclass with Andrea Nakayama that focuses on the science and art of hormone balance.
This also gives you hormone-balancing recipes and lifestyle support along with community message boars that give additional guidance from their nutrition team.
- Hashi Companion
The 8 nodule home study course covers the possible root causes of autoimmunity and Hashimoto’s. You also get to have the master class from Andrea Nakayama covering lifestyle factors that could lead to your symptoms-free lifestyle.
How Much will it cost you?
There’s not much transparency on their program’s cost but some reviews stated that the cost will be around $5,950 or you can do a monthly payment of $645. But the thing is this program mostly tackles the health, system, and tools not how you market these said skills.
You need to also to spend to learn about marketing and such so it’s really not worth investing and learning this stuff especially since it’s a load of crap to begin with.
Downsides of FNAP
I am sure you heard the quote you are what you eat a million times already but to be honest, even traditional or old folks believe in this system that food is better than some medicine. But the thing is functional nutrition is not a proper remedy for illnesses so here are some downsides you might wanna consider:
- Lack of Evidence – while some aspects of functional nutrition are accepted by other scientific research you still need to consider that some benefits need a shred of concrete scientific evidence. It’s more likely how you distinguish effective intervention from anecdotal claims.
- Variables of Individuals – It will always fall to the individual’s unique biochemistry. Genetic and lifestyle. What works for one person may not work for others. You always need an accurate assessment of your health through clinical prescription rather than quack claims.
- Complexity and Accessibility – you may have stumbled upon different foods for your health concerns but the thing is you need to consider the required time, effort, and resources you need to really convince yourself that this process helps you.
- Imbalance Nutrients – most of the time functional nutrition approach involves supplements, vitamins, minerals, and others but the thing is excessive supplementation or inappropriate combination of nutrients can lead to imbalances and adverse effects.
- Risk of overemphasizing food – food can act as your medicine but not all the time because exclusive focus on food overshadows important aspects of health. Check your physical activity, sleep, and even stress management by neglecting other factors that limit functional nutrition effectiveness.
- Conflicting Information – the field of nutrition is complex and most of the time you get to have conflicts of information. The thing is not getting the right information can lead to confusion and frustration especially those who are only relying on online and what the internet says.
- Lack of Regulation – supplements and methods don’t get scutinize that much unlike pharmaceutical products and methods since they usually undergo rigorous testing and regulation.
Andrea’s institution and program are full of bull crap. Shilling for untested pills by using scientific lingo just to entice you is already something you need to avoid. There’s no substantial evidence to back up there claims and also this isn’t worth to invest at all.
If you want to earn money just do affiliate marketing or flipping houses because this isn’t a good way to earn money it’s like scamming people by trying to take advantage of health concerns, it’s unethical and BS. If you are open to suggestions feel free to check my recommendations.
